Don’t let moving house last minute stress you out

Moving house can be incredibly stressful, least of all if you have to do it last minute.  For many unforeseen circumstances moving house last minute is not uncommon.  Whether your boss has sent you on an assignment for a few months, you completed on your property far quicker than you thought, or you simply want to move asap, there are many ways you can avoid added stress.

Here are a few tips to help things go smoothly.

Boxes galore

Don’t underestimate how much you have to move.  Make sure you get as many boxes and general packing supplies as you need.  In fact, extra is better.  Many removal companies will let you return any extra packing supplies you purchase.

Make a list

Take a few minutes to sit down and write a list.  Note down everything you need to do. It may include taking your pets to relatives, hiring in cleaners to clean your property and to take meter readings for your utilities.

Label your boxes

When moving house in a hurry it can be easy to forget this part.  Make sure you take a black marker pen with you and label all your boxes carefully.  Give each room a number or colour co-ordinate by using different coloured pens or tape.

Handy items

Keep all your essential documentation to hand.  Don’t pack your passport, tax documents or medical forms in a rush.  Keep them to hand just in case you need them when you move.

Essentials

Keep a box of essential items such as a kettle, tea bags, cups and food for your moving day.  Don’t underestimate the power of a cup of tea!
