Italy, Possibly the most beautiful part of Europe!

Where in Italy do you picture yourself buying property and living? There is probably more beauty per square mile here than virtually any other part of Europe. You’ll be spoilt for choice, from the sleepy rolling hills of Tuscany to the sunny groves of Abruzzo, you’re sure to find that perfect home in Europe’s most seductive country. How much it costs to live in Italy will depend on your own lifestyle and what area you choose to live.

Tuscany is located in central Italy and stretches from the Apennines to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its landscape of rolling hills fuzzed with olive groves and zigzagged lines of cypress trees, artistic heritage and stand-out cities are among the nations most visited: Florence with its mighty Cathedral Duomo, Pisa with its leaning tower, and Siena with its fan shaped Piazza del Campo. Tuscany is the region most highly-prized by foreign buyers of homes in Italy. There are few affordable properties left between Florence and Siena, there are many other interesting parts of Tuscany where reasonable property is still available. In particular, the Garfagnana  area near to Lucca which features spectacular mountain scenery, dramatic hilltop towns, and a strong sense of history and culture. There are many affordable properties in this area that are either ready to move into, or in need of renovation.

Abruzzo is one of the lesser known regions of Italy, fringed by Adriatic beaches, the Abruzzo region is a tapestry of mountains, olive groves, vineyards, and pine forests. Picturesque hill towns come with cobbled streets, small churches, and medieval watchtowers. It is becoming increasingly popular with house hunters able to find attractive, inexpensive properties for renovation in the southern part of Abruzzo abandoned farmhouses can be bought very reasonably

Whether you’re wandering around vineyards, lounging on the beach, or discovering its rich history, Italy is a tremendous place to live

Many people are under the impression that Italy is expensive and so the thought of living in Italy seems unrealistic. If you venture out of the tourist hotspots, you won’t need to spend a fortune to enjoy the good life. Living like a local, eating local produce, drinking local wine and using public transport makes life in Italy very affordable.

Before moving to live in Italy, it is important that you check how the healthcare system works. The EHIC card will enable you to access the necessary state-provided healthcare in Italy at a reduced cost, it also covers you for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions

If you intend to remain in Italy for a period exceeding 3 months, you must apply to your nearest town hall for residency. You will be issued with a certificate, which is valid for 5 years from the date of issue, or for your period of intended residency (if this is less than 5 years). After 5 years EU nationals can request permanent residency. Parts of Italy still remain virgin territory to foreigners, and several buyers prefer to use Italian real estate agents, as their fees are usually a couple of percentage points lower. If they’re local, they may also have a greater understanding of zoning regulations and any potential problems.
